2011:The year in Mixed Martial Arts GIFs

2011 was a great year for mixed martial arts, it had incredible fights, spectacular finishes, and all the high jinks that we've come to expect from the worlds most exciting sport. Things like....
Anderson Silva's debut of Steve Seagal's mystical front kick.
Things like, the intensity shown by Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos leading into the UFC's debut on Fox. Or the exact moment when Ronda Rousey got caught stealing the hearts of mixed martial arts fans everywhere.
So drop everything, like Jones dropped Machida and check out the rest of the best GIFs of 2011.
You'll feel like Kenny Florian does here, if you don't.

2011 featured some outstanding submissions and here are the best of the best. Submission of the year? Probably The UFC's first twister, which the Korean Zombie broke out on Leonard Garcia.
Then there was Pablo Garza's Flying triangle on Yves Jabouin, and we also had
Richard Hale chanelling 2010 with his inverted triangle choke on Nik Fekete at Belator 38.
We got Pat Curran's take on a peruvian neck tie at Bellator 46
and who could forget Tito Ortiz's big Guillotine win over Ryan Bader at UFC 132?
Or Chuck Liddell's reaction to it.
Only to end the year on a bad note, when we had Frank Mir use a kimura to simultaneously break Minotauro Nogueria's arm and the hearts of real MMA fan's everywhere.
Why couldn't Nogueria have rubber arms like Dan Hardy?
On a positive note, 2011 also featured some sensational KO's like Travis Browne's superman style demolition of the sky scraper Stephan Struve.
We had Patricky Pittbull Freire's flying knee on Toby Imada at Bellator 39.

We had Carlos Condit's version at UFC 132 against Dong Hyun Kim

and this list wouldn't be complete with out Lyoto Machida's retirement present to "the Natural" Randy Couture at UFC 129.

2011 also featured some of the best comebacks in the history of MMA. None more impressive then Cheick Congo's hail Mary KO of Pat Barry at UFC on versus 4.

While at UFC 136 Frankie Edgar channeled Rocky Balboa and showed once again why he is the gutsiest fighter in the sport by coming back from a disastrous start to TKO Gray Maynard in the 4th

and for the fight of the year we had what will probably go down as one of the best mixed martial arts fights ever, when Dan Henderson and Shogun Rua turned in an absolute classic at UFC 139.

2011 was great year to be an MMA fan and 2012 is shaping up to be even better so stay tuned to It's Fighting Stupid for the best in mixed martial arts.
