Mayweather arrested for grand larceny ?

"    Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been arrested and booked on charges of grand larceny related to Thursday's domestic violence incident with an ex-girlfriend, Las Vegas police confirmed Friday. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center about 10:45 a.m., police said. The charge stems from personal items Mayweather took from ex-girlfriend Josie Harris' house Thursday morning, including her cell phone.
Police have not arrested Mayweather for misdemeanor domestic violence because an arrest must be made within 24 hours of the crime. After that, the case must be submitted to the district attorney's office for review. Capt. Brett Zimmerman, who oversees the Crimes Against Youth and Family Bureau, said police will submit their case to prosecutors."- LVRJ

Best Fight I’ve seen this week.

The best fight I’ve come across so far this week took place yesterday, not between two mixed martial artists, but between the demons locked in this poor guy’s dome piece. Watch as Phil Davison, GOP candidate, delivers his Stark County Treasurer Speech, this bout is not sanctioned by OSAC or any athletic commission I'm aware of.

Nate Marquardt on Dan Hardy? Quit whining and learn to wrestle

""  that's just coming from someone who isn't a good wrestler. Wrestling is a big part of MMA. He shouldn't complain about it, he should learn it. With MMA, you see changes and trends in the sport. One minute the strikers are dominating it, the next minute it's the wrestlers. You have to watch that and adapt to it."

Mike Tyson, Tupac and Weed on ESPN?

On the evening of Sept. 7, 1996, Mike Tyson, the WBC heavyweight champion, attempted to take Bruce Seldon’s WBA title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. At this point in his career, Tyson’s fights had become somewhat of a cultural phenomenon, where the ever present hype of the professional boxing scene would come face to face with the worlds of big business, Hollywood, and hip hop. Sitting ringside was controversial rapper Tupac Shakur. Shakur and Tyson were friends, a feeling of kinship linked them as each rose to stardom from poverty only to be thrown in prison. Following Tyson’s victory, Shakur and “Iron Mike” were to celebrate at an after party, but the rap star never arrived. Shakur was brutally gunned down later that night, and the scene in Las Vegas quickly turned from would-be celebratory revelry to ill fated and inopportune tragedy. Director Reggie Bythewood, with the full cooperation of Mike Tyson, will tell not only the story of that infamous night but of the remarkable friendship between Tyson and Tupac.

Todd Duffee Placed On Waivers. Hello Strikeforce?

Todd Duffee (1-1 UFC) the owner of a 7 second KO, one of the Fastest in UFC History. Was apparently let go this afternoon according to MMA Junkie and Alex Davis.
Duffee lost his last one, in what was probably the best come from behind KO you've never seen. Till now that is. Duffee was putting a beating on Mike Russo before getting dropped, so chances are it's not a performance based release.
Todd Duffee is a big time prospect, so you know there's some shit that's bout to or has already, hit the fan. I just hope it's not stinky enough to keep Strikeforce, Overeem and Co. away.

It’s Fighting Stupid - Weekly Stupidity 6/09/10

  • Everybody knows G-Force's Blog is the premier sports blog in south eastern Saskatoon. So when the Force asked R.T. aka El Dandy aka Valparaiso Slim to help out with some MMA content, I was down.  'Cause you take four corners anywhere in the world, on one corner they're playing Soccer, on another they're playing basketball, on the third corner Gary's playing with him self, and on the fourth a fight breaks out. Where's the crowd gather?........... I mean after Gary's Done. You know where, cause It's Fighting Stupid.

The West Linn Lip Chael Sonnen Ready For Round 2?

Remember this?

On the eve of UFC 115, #1 Middleweight contender Chael Sonnen hosted a Q&A session for UFC Fight Club members. His performance is the stuff of MMA legend. Sonnen layed a verbal beat down on UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva, he insulted the champ, vowed to force Silva to fight, and delivered some of the greatest soundbombs in recent history.

Well get ready for round 2! Because UFC Fight Club members will be able to attend the sequel. A Q&A session with UFC Chael Sonnen on Tuesday, September 14th at the Frank Erwin Event Center Austin, Texas. The West Linn Lip Chael Sonnen locked and reloaded? Don't mind if I do.

StrikeForce Flushing Money Down The Toilet?

When you waste fights like Mayhem Miller vs Nick Diaz you bet! Between the nationally televised brawl, the t-shirt trash talk and the you tube diatribe, you'd think it'd be when, not if with this fight. Well not if you're Strikeforce.
"I wanna fight Nick Diaz, Don't be scared homie that's his line right? Well Don't be scared homie."
                                                                                                                    - Mayhem Miller

"Uhhhhhhhh. Uhhhhhhhhh. Fuck You Bitch."(or something equally as clever)

Toney on Belfort: "I'm more then willing to welcome him into my world"

Belfort had lobbied Dana White earlier in the week for a shot at showing his boxing chops in a 6 round boxing match.
"Dana let me fight James Toney on 6 round box[ing] match I think I can catch him with my speed. Dana [it] will be the 1 boxing match in UFC I promise he will fell my power and we will show the world [that] a UFC fighter can do better.”
Well now we know Lights Out is Down :
"Tell Vitor let's make it happen. I like that he ain't no scared little bitch. He wants to come to my world and Im more then willing to welcome him into my world."
So I guess it's up to uncle Dana. Chances are he'll pass already having said he's done with the boxing vs mma angle. But who knows, James Toney can be very persistent.

Backstage With Joe Rogan

Here's a couple of cool backstage interviews Ariel Helwani of MMA fighting, shot with Comedian / Color commentator Joe Rogan before and after his pre-UFC 116 comedy show at the House of Blues in Las Vegas.

Learning On The Job With Joe Warren

via ESPN MMA worldwide live
First round you took a lot of damage and you made a comeback in the second round. This isn’t the first time that you’ve had to do this. You’ve been behind in a lot of fights before and yet you always somehow manage to come back. Is that a flaw or a strength? What’s in your head in the beginning of fights during a comeback?
“Well, I’m still a very new fighter, you know, it’s only been a year and a half, I’ve went through seven fights and I’m really learning on the job. It’s not something I plan on doing, it’s just bad. It’s not, it’s just that I’ve been fighting extremely high-level athletes, you know, these are top-of-the-line fighters, we’re fighting for titles and big tournaments so these guys have a lot of fights above me, a lot of wins, they’re just used to fighting more than I am. I got caught in some weird submissions, just had to fight through it you know. I knew, I would war every time I get in there, the weight class is a little big for me and I just try to stay focused and push hard. Understand that maybe it might not go my way all the time but I understand I can win at any point. I know that this sport, like wrestling, you can win at any point if you stay focused so some of the trouble I get in, you know, I don’t think I’ll get in that trouble again. I think I’ve been probably in the worst trouble out of any fighter in the world and got out of it.”

Jean Pascal vs Bernard Hopkins, Quebec City, QC. 18/12/10

According to the cbc, the WBC light heavy weight strap will be on the line December 18th in Quebec city as the executioner Bernard Hopkins takes on the #1 175lbs fighter on the planet in Jean Pascal.  In what should could be a high risk low reward situation for Pascal. If he beats B-Hop he worked an old man, if he struggles with him he'll look over rated and should he lose, well god help him. And lets face it, B-hop makes everyone look bad he's technical, savvy and tough in ways that most fighters cant comprehend, so ahhh, good luck with that Jean.

Vitor Wants To Box The Dark Emperor?

According to fighters only
"Dana let me fight James Toney on 6 round box[ing] match I think I can catch him with my speed. Dana [it] will be the 1 boxing match in UFC I promise he will fell my power and we will show the world [that] a UFC fighter can do better.”
I put the chances of this happening just ahead of Pac vs KJ, which is a just a little bit behind hell freezing over.

Ritual Sacrifice at Dream 16?

DREAM.16 - Sakuraba vs Mayhem!! Yep you read that right, as Im sure you gleaned from the promo video Sakuraba, poor old Saku possibily the most beloved fighter in MMA, is being sent off on another suicide mission. This time in the form of top 15 middle weight Mayhem Miller. This shit is unconscionable and would never be sanctioned in the U.S. except maybe in Texas, but then again thats what i said about the Galesic fight too!
